Through the Vice Presidency for Educational Affairs and Development and the Department of Career Guidance and Professional Development, the University of Jeddah equips students with the skills and experience the labour market requires via its Professional Practice courses. These courses build leadership traits and behavioural and practical competencies: they give students hands-on skills and experience in their field, connect them with the labour market, and prepare them for working life after graduation. Professional practice for University of Jeddah students includes:
- Cooperative training with employment partners
- Volunteering
- Participation in research projects
Cooperative training with employment partners
One of the most important elements of professional practice at the University of Jeddah, giving students the chance to work in a professional environment for the equivalent of 200 hours over no less than two months. It is a mandatory graduation requirement for all university students. Students are selected for cooperative training by specialist committees based on their academic record and personal skills. Participating students may receive financial benefits from the training provider, and they receive a university-accredited training certificate on completion.
Volunteering
One form of professional practice at the University of Jeddah, giving students the chance to take part in community activities and programmes such as:
- Volunteering with charitable associations
- Volunteering with government and private institutions
- Volunteering on community projects
Volunteering helps students build practical skills and experience in their field, and supports their personal development and social values.
Participation in research projects
One form of professional practice at the University of Jeddah, giving students the chance to take part in scientific or applied research projects. Students are selected by a specialist committee based on their field of study and research skills. Taking part in research projects helps students build research skills and develop creative ideas, and professional practice prepares them for working life after graduation by giving them the skills and experience the labour market requires.
